This event is for ALL military spouses in the Hampton Roads community, whether you arrived last week or have been here for years! If you're looking to connect with fellow spouses, find valuable local resources, or just enjoy a well-deserved day out, this event is for you.
What is the overall goal of the day? Is this a job fair?
This is NOT a job fair. Our goal is to create a fun, supportive, and celebratory atmosphere where you can connect with resources for your career, family, and personal well-being. Think of it as a day to invest in yourself—you'll gather information, meet new friends, and explore local businesses.
What kind of resources and businesses will be there?
The Resource Marketplace will feature organizations focused on military spouse employment, education, family support services, volunteer opportunities, and mental health and wellness. The Shop Local Spotlight and shuttle outing will introduce you to unique local boutiques and businesses.
Where is the event and what is the parking situation?
The event starts at Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts in Suffolk. There is parking available on site.
What is the dress code?
Think "smart casual" and comfortable! You'll be networking, sitting for a panel, and walking around to shop. We highly recommend comfortable shoes for the "Shop and Savor Suffolk" portion of the day.
Do I need to bring anything?
Just bring yourself and a positive attitude! You might also want to bring a notepad for the "Empower Hour," a phone for photos, and a reusable tote bag for your shopping finds.
How do I get one of the $25 Visa gift cards?
The gift cards are a special thank-you for our early birds! They will be given to the first 20 military spouses who check in at the registration table starting at 9:00 AM. No exceptions, so be sure to arrive on time!
How does the "Shop & Savor Suffolk" portion work?
You'll receive a "passport map" at registration. As you visit the participating stores, you'll get a stamp on your map. It's a fun and easy way to explore the community!
What is the passport map raffle?
If you visit all the participating retailers on the passport map and get a stamp from each, you can turn in your completed map to be entered into a raffle for fantastic prizes, including gift baskets and exclusive local experiences.
Is the event free, and how do I reserve my spot?
Yes, this event is completely free for military spouses as a thank-you for all you do. However, space is limited, so you must register in advance to secure your spot.
What if I register but can no longer make it?
We understand that life happens! If your plans change, please cancel your registration as soon as possible. This allows us to open up your spot to a spouse on the waiting list.
