    Job DescriptionGeneral Contractor in Newport News, VA is seeking an Industrial Construction Foreman who is committed to performing and maintaining the quality work standards established by Hampton Roads Contracting, Inc.
    Key ResponsibilitiesManage the daily activities of a 3-10 person crew.\Train employees to improve the quality and quantity of work performed.\Monitor and ensure the proper use of safe working practices and protocols on the jobsite.\Perform wood and metal framing.\Perform various types of concrete work including walls, slabs, and footers.\Perform excavation and trenching work for the installation of civil structures, concrete construction, utility installation, and other general construction.\Utilize heavy equipment for excavation, material handling, and site grading to include excavators and other earth moving equipment, rollers, compactors, arial equipment, forklifts, cranes, and heavy trucks.\Perform steel construction, demolition, and modification including hot work.\Perform site grading and other civil work.\Communicate efficiently with crews, customers, subcontractors, and supervisors.\Create, read, and adhere to job schedules.\Plan job steps and ensure best working practices are used to ensure the safety of all crew members.\Adhere to and enforce company policies and procedures.

    Skills and ExperienceAbility to read and interpret engineered drawings.\Minimum of 5 years of experience managing construction crews.\Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products.\Must have the ability to manage multiple subcontractors. General knowledge of electrical, HVAC, and plumbing are preferred.\Enthusiastic, professional, and positive attitude.\Strong work ethic.\Ability to stand for long periods.\Ability to lift heavy materials and work long hours.\Ability to kneel for long periods.\Utilize heavy equipment such as manlifts, scissor lifts, and forklifts.
